Title: Reconnecting Disconnected AFS

Abstract:

Disconnected AFS has been a recurring theme ever since its original implementation at the University of Michigan. Efforts are now underway to update the original Michigan code to the current OpenAFS codebase.

This talk will cover the background behind disconnected operation and the original implementation, the current progress of the reimplementation effort, and discuss along the way some of the many issues with providing a consistent, reliable user experience on top of filesystem with disconnected support. It will examine different usage models, from opportunistic read-only disconnection, through to providing full read write support, and conclude with a demonstration of the current state of the code.
